Claims. Where the rubber meets the road.

Because we handle all losses in-house, we're able to assure policyholders that their claims will be paid quickly, and with minimal hassle. Given that we handle only first party claims, nothing could be more important. After all, it's our clients' time and money.

What can you, the insured, do to help?

  • Make sure your loss is promptly reported. Initial claim notification should be submitted to DealerGuard via telephone, mail or fax. If in writing, use a standard Accord Automobile Loss Notice or our own (downloadable) Notice of Loss form. Upon receipt your case will be assigned to one of our in-house adjusters who will explain what additional steps will be necessary to bring your claim to a prompt conclusion.
  • Do not begin repairs without DealerGuard's OK.
  • Do whatever may be necessary to protect damaged property from further loss or damage. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed as part of your claim.
  • Notify the police if the loss is the result of theft or other illegal act. Vandalism, theft and deception (false pretense) claims must be supported by a police report.

Small partial losses sometimes will be paid on the basis of an estimate by your body shop and a photo of the damaged inventory. More typically, a local field adjuster will be assigned to appraise the damage.

Hail and other large, multi-vehicle losses will be handled by one our catastrophe adjusting teams who, generally, are deployed within 24 hours. Please refer to our Hail Loss Guidelines for additional tips.

Our claims department may be contacted during normal business hours at 800-955-0645 (fax: 248-354-5508).
